Incorporated changes to IT design and physical changes to building

Results and client benefits

♦ Mid-project merger increased requirements from 50,000 to 100,000 sq ft
♦ Most of the project had to be re-designed
♦ Project completed to original programme and 3% below budget

CLIENT: Insurance Plc

LOCATION: City of London

♦ Client had a lease deadline and needed to relocate
♦ Project was being managed internally, using one small contractor
♦ Mid-project, contractor went into liquidation
♦ Mid-project, client merger doubled office requirements to 100,000 sq ft

The client’s top priorities were completing the project with no loss of business or trading, so our solution was to:

♦ Hire the site contracting team to allow them to carry on working
♦ Re-engage and brief the design team and drive the client and design team
♦ Accommodate changes to the IT design and physical changes to the building

“Steve and I worked together delivering a 100,000 square foot fit-out and relocation project – me on the client side (heading up the project), with Steve coordinating all day-to-day aspects of the project and running the site. Our project was completed on time and within budget, and the relocation to our new head office caused almost no disruption to the business. Steve and his team must take enormous credit for this achievement, in particular for keeping such a complex and tight project on track, and for coping with all manner of late changes introduced by me – all with a much-appreciated balance of professionalism, robustness and good humour and never at the expense of quality or timeliness of delivery. I would love to get the chance to work with Steve and the team again!” Rob Harden Head of Corporate Development at QBE
